Take Your Food Blog to the Next Level

You might think that a food blog isn't a good choice because there are so many out there. However, that is farthest from the truth.

Take Your Food Blog to the Next Level

This is a sponsored post written by me. All opinions are my own and may differ from yours.

Food Blog Growth in Under Two Years

Dine Dream Discover is my new blog. I started this blog a little under two years ago after selling my couponing blog. My couponing blog was started seven years earlier in 2012 when everyone was extreme couponing.

I wanted to go in a different direction and have more of a food niche and the only choice was to start this blog and sell the old one. And I have to say, Dine Dream Discover has evolved more in these two years than the couponing blog did in seven years.

First Thing to Do with a Food Blog

The first thing you need to do is choose your niche. You might think that a food blog isn't a good choice because there are so many out there. However, that is farthest from the truth. A food blog is always a good choice because really, everyone eats. And people are always looking for new recipes.

Blogging isn't a competition, even though some of treat it that way. Most people are surprised to learn that food bloggers actually work together. We support each other by sharing each others recipes and helping out if a need arises in hard times.

    group of bloggers

Right now, with the pandemic going on, things have been a little different in the blog world. Some are having a hard time and some aren't. Some are creating new recipes daily and some have found new ways to keep their blog going.

We also get together (when a pandemic isn't going on) to share tips of what's working and what isn't, tasting each other's creations or just having a girl's night out.

    What to Post

I come from a Polish family where we ate good old home cooking the majority of the time. Of course, made by mom with Grandma's old recipes.

With that being said, there are many people who love good old fashioned home cooking. And since many of these recipe have been handed down through the family, they are recipes that aren't a dime a dozen. That in itself helped the blog take off.

I'm sure that working in the restaurant business for 30 years and also owning one for many years helped also.

Pinterest - Next on the List

Where do you find most of your recipes? Whenever I am looking for a recipe, Pinterest is always my first choice. There are so many recipes in so many different varieties.

Pinterest is also where the majority of my traffic comes from. So that's where I spend most of my time sharing my recipes at. And it has helped. But you have to be diligent. You can't post sporadically. There has to be a routine and you have to stick to it. Your readers count on it.

    blogging niche

I think that's why this blog has taken off so well. I am more dedicated to it than I was with the couponing blog. I love cooking and sharing Grandma's recipes.

    Other Social Media

Social Media sites are different for everyone. Some prefer Facebook and Twitter over Pinterest and Instagram. You have to find what works for you.

There are some that do really well (really, really well) with TikTok. But that's not me. Maybe someday I'll give it more of a shot, but for now I'll stick with Pinterest and Instagram.

And one thing to keep in mind....you can't do it all. Sure I have all four social media sites. But it's hard to focus and work on all four. Choose one or two and stick to it.

    In Conclusion

I'm not gonna lie, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Some people have it and some people don't. There are many that start a blog thinking it's going to be easy. But come to find out after a couple of months, that's it too much like work.

    taking pictures of food

I love blogging and wouldn't trade it for the anything. But I also love Florida and there are many that don't. 😉
