Lemon Cookie Bars with Lemon Butter Cream Frosting
When I think of lemons, I think of spring. And for most parts of the country, it can't come soon enough. However, the Lemon Cookie Bars with Lemon Butter Cream Frosting will help brighten your day, if even just for a short time.

Lemon Cookie Ingredients
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Egg
- Butter, room temperature
- Cream cheese, room temperature
- Sugar
- Lemon juice, Lemon zest & Lemon extract
For the frosting:
- Butter, room temperature
- Milk
- Lemon juice
- Lemon extract
- Powdered sugar, sifted
- Yellow food coloring (optional)

How to Make the Best Lemon Dessert
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare an 8x8 baking pan by greasing with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until creamy and well combined.
Add the lemon juice, lemon zest, and lemon extract. Beat until combined.
Add the flour mixture and beat until smooth. Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
To make the frosting, beat together the butter, milk, lemon juice, lemon extract and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add food coloring to tint icing if desired.
Allow the cookie bars to cool completely, then spread the frosting over the top of the cookie bars.
Cut into 9 equal pieces before serving.
Serve with a nice cold glass of milk!

- Tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest & lemon extract
For the frosting:
- ½ cup butter, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Tablespoon lemon juice
- Teaspoon lemon extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- Yellow food coloring (optional)
Instructions
