Air Fryer Onion Rings
I'm the type of person that loves deep fried foods especially onion rings. Unfortunately, we all know they aren't good for us. Thankfully, the Ninja Foodie aka Air Fryer came along.
I recently got the Ninja Foodie and I love it even more than my previous standard Air Fryer. It can do so much. Like make these healthy air fryer Onion Rings just for an example. Besides being healthy, they are low in calories. Who doesn't love crispy onion rings without the grease!
Serves – about 8
Crispy Air Fried Onion Rings Ingredients
- Sweet Onion, cut into thick circles (about ¼ inch thick)
- Flour
- Egg
- Milk
- Italian style Breadcrumbs or Panko Breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper
- Cooking spray or mist
How to make homemade Air Fryer Crispy Onion Rings
- Separate the sliced onions into rings.
- Pour the all-purpose flour into a shallow bowl. Dip all the onion slices into flour mixture until they are all coated. Set aside on a wire rack
.
- Add a beaten egg, milk, salt and pepper in to the all-purpose flour and whisk
it well to form a thick batter. Also, pour out the breadcrumbs into a plate or a shallow bowl
.
- Dip the floured onion slices into the egg-flour batter, making sure it is well coated.
- Dredge it in the bread crumbs to coat it completely. Keep it aside on a wire rack. Repeat with all the slices.
- Place a few crumb coated onion rings in the lightly greased air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with cooking spray or mist.
- Air fry at 400 F for 6 to 7 minutes. Repeat with all the prepared onion rings.
- Serve hot with ketchup or salsa.
