6 Ways to Save Money on Campsite Rentals

Camping is such a fun way

to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. If you have camped before, you know that a campsite costs so much less than a hotel room rental, making it a budget friendly way to travel. And even though camping is already budget friendly, you should know there are ways to save even more on your next campout! Look below at 6 ways to save money on campsite rentals, so you can sleep under the stars for less.

    1. Book multiple campsite rentals nights.

Just about all campsites will over a discount if you book more than one night. Discounts will vary, but always be sure to ask about a multi night discount. You are already taking the time to set up camp and get cozy, you might as well stay for awhile!

Should you find yourself staying for an extended period, such as 2 weeks or more, you may be even more inclined to receive a discount. Some parks will even offer discounts to residents who volunteer service hours at the park during their stay. It is worth asking if this option is available.

    2. Avoid holiday weekends.

Campgrounds tend to fill up to the brim on holiday weekends. If you are flexible in your planning, skip those holiday weekends and save some cash. Not only will costs most likely be higher, but you may have to pay a higher deposit and book a minimum number of nights. Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day are the most popular and typically most expensive weekends.

    3. Share a site.

Some campgrounds will allow multiple tents or small campers on each site. If you have friends camping with you, see if you can share a site. You might only have one water/electric hook up in this case, but if that is a non issue then sharing a site is ideal. Be sure to ask prior to booking if this is allowed and how many campers you can have per site. The rules tend to vary so you want to be sure you stay in line with the regulations of the park.

    4. Only rent what you need.

Campsites offer so many options when it comes to campsites. Some of electric, some have water, some have both! Electric amps, size, and other amenities will all vary. When choosing a site, only pay for what you actually need. The simpler you keep it, the less your spot will be. There is no point in paying for a camping spot that offers amenities you won’t even use.

    5. Head out during the off season!

Early spring and late fall will typically offer cheaper camping rates. Parks are less full at this time and so deals are in abundance. If you can handle the cooler weather, it may be ideal to go camping during these months so you can save some extra cash. Parks will also be less crowded, which means prime camping sites for you to choose from!

    6. Ask about those campsite rentals discounts.

Are you a resident in the state you are camping in? Are you a AAA member? A senior? Did you serve in the military? Most parks offer discounts for at least one or even all of the circumstances above. Before you book, ask about any applicable discounts you might qualify for. This way, you can save anywhere from 10%-20% off your stay! Follow your favorite campgrounds on social media, so you can be sure to see any specials or current discounts they are offering.

As you can see, there are very simple ways to camp for less. Consider these 6 ways to save money on campsite rentals and see how budget friendly camping can truly be.
