This Sanderson Sisters Jello Pie Is...
- Perfect for Halloween
- Layered Pie
- Fun Hocus Pocus Themed Dessert
- Great for Parties and Events
- Kid Friendly
- Oreos - So you will want to use Oreos for the crust. Feel free to change up the flavor of Oreos used if you want. A Golden Oreo would be a great option.
- Butter - I recommend real butter, not margarine.
- Jello - You are going to need a handful of flavors. Orange, pineapple, grape, for all the layers.
- Yogurt - Same with yogurt you will want lemon, orange, and vanilla yogurt.
- Whipped Cream - I just bought Cool Whip at the grocery store for this. It works great on giving you that creamy layer.
- Meringue Powder - Find this in the baking or cake-making aisle. This is going to be what you use for the meringue toppers.
- Sugar - The sweeter to the meringues.
- Vanilla - Try to use pure vanilla extract.
- Food Coloring - You will need some different food coloring gel to create vibrant colors.
Tips For Success
- Allow each layer of the pie to set up. This is important or you will find that you don't get those defined layers of the pie as you want.
- Meringue is not too hard to make. Just make sure it is thick when you go to pipe it, so it holds shape.
- You can make this pie in advance and then just store it in the fridge. I like to wait to place the meringue right before you serve to help preserve the texture.
- Make sure to cover the pie with a lid or plastic wrap so it doesn't take on other flavors from the fridge.
Storing Pie
This pie needs to be refrigerated when it is done. Just place in an airtight container and place it in the freezer. Then slice and serve when you are ready to enjoy.
For best quality, this pie is best served freshly made. The meringue will soften as it sits in the fridge over the days.
