Jalapeno Pepper Popper Recipe Ingredients
- Crescent roll sheet - Using a crescent roll sheet is easier. However, if you have trouble finding it, directions are also included for the crescent roll dough.
- Fresh jalapeños - When purchasing fresh jalapenos, you are going to want to choose the largest ones you can find for this recipe. Also, look for dark green skins. The more seeds and ribs left in the jalapenos, the hotter they will be.
- Cream cheese - Light cream cheese is an option for these little mummy guys. You will want full-fat blocks of cream cheese.
- Shredded cheddar jack cheese - You can substitute any kind of cheese that you like. I have made these before with mozzarella cheese and also Monterey or Colby jack cheeses.
- Garlic powder
- Egg
- Candy eyeballs - These can be found in the baking aisle or in the cake supplies aisle at Walmart near the craft supplies.
- For exact amounts, please see the recipe card below.

Can I Make Mummy Jalapeno Poppers Ahead of Time
You can make the cream cheese filling ahead of time and place it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Stuff the peppers right before you are ready to cook them.
Stuffing the peppers ahead of time is also an option. However, you don't want to wrap them in the crescent roll dough until you are ready to place them in the air fryer.
Store them in an airtight container until ready to wrap them.
How to Store Leftover Jalapeno Mummies
If you have any left, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They can be stored for up to two days.
Helpful Tips
- Stretch the dough around the mummy peppers to keep it thin. It will help to keep the spaces between the wrappings and the dough won't puff up as much.
- Keep the knife or pizza cutter from sticking to the dough by spraying it with non-stick spray. If the dough gets too sticky, place it in the refrigerator for a few minutes to firm up.
- Use gloves when cutting the peppers and scraping out the seeds. Jalapeno pepper juice on your hands will burn if you get it in your eyes. (it's also not fun if you are a male using the restroom afterward!)

Clean and prepare jalapeños by slicing them open, removing the seeds and endocarp (the whitish membrane that seeds are attached to.), and rinsing the insides out. Try to leave the stem intact. Provides a perfect handle.
Roll out a crescent roll sheet. If using crescent roll dough leave individual rolls together. Pinch closed the perforations.
Place dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll flat to ⅛” thick.
Cut slices long ways to mimic mummy wrap. Set aside.
Add cheeses and garlic to a mixing bowl and whip until light and airy.
Fill the inside of the jalapeños.
Wrap the jalapeños in the dough to mimic a mummy. You can overlap the dough but the dough will expand so do not over-wrap the jalapeños. You want to see the jalapeños under the wrapping.
Whisk the egg and brush over the wrapped jalapeños.
Place in a parchment-lined air fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes at 375°f or until the dough is golden brown.
Once cooked remove and let cool. Place two eyes on each jalapeño pushing into the cheese filling.
Serve with ranch and enjoy.
Halloween Poppers Conclusion
These jalapeño popper mummies are the perfect addition to any Halloween party!
The filling is incredibly creamy and cheesy, and the jalapeños give the perfect amount of spice.
