I made these Cherry Fireball Jello Shots for my 94-year-old aunt, 90-year-old aunt, and 92-year-old mother-in-law.
The three of them are sisters and we get them together every year when we come home for the summer.
Last year, I made caramel apple jello shots and sangria shots when they were over. My 94-year-old aunt casually mentioned that she loved Fireball Cherry Jello Shots.
I promised I would make them for her this year when we returned. So here we are!

What Alcohol Works Best for Jello Shots?
The best alcohol for Jell-O shots is vodka, but other spirits work well too. Fireball Whiskey is a great cinnamon-flavored whisky that makes a great combination with cherry jello.
Gin will infuse more of its own essence into the final product while still letting all those delicious flavors shine through!
How Much Alcohol Should You Put in Jello Shots?
Most people think that you can only put ½ cup to ¾ cup of alcohol in a jello shot with a 3-ounce box of jello because it won't set if you use more.
I always use 1 cup of alcohol per 1 cup of water. As you can see by my jello shots, they set perfectly fine!
Can you Get Drunk Off Jello Shots?
If you have enough jello shots, I'm sure you can get pretty messed up. Two jello shots in 2-ounce souffle cups, equals 1 shot of alcohol.
So if it takes 2 shots of alcohol to get drunk, then 4 jello shots can mess you up. If 4 shots of alcohol mess you up, then you will need 8 jello shots to get drunk.
Of course, there are other factors to consider. My calculations pertain to MY Cherry Fireball Jello Shots. Someone else may be using less alcohol so it will take longer to mess you up.
It also depends on if you are drinking a cocktail, wine, or beer in addition to the gelatin shots.
And whether or not you are doing this on an empty stomach! Did you eat before you started? Are you snacking as you are drinking and eating the shots?
All in all, always remember to drink responsibly and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, DRIVE DRUNK!
My brother-in-law was killed by a drunk driver and I do not condone that behavior at all!
How Do You Eat a Jello Shot?
There are a few different methods for eating a jello shot. Some do it easier than others and some will struggle with that little 2-ounce cup for an hour.
Method One: Suck it out with your tongue. Run your tongue around the inside of the edge of the cup.
Method Two: Use your finger. It's a little messy but it usually works.
Method Three: Tear open the side of the cup. This is kind of hard to do if the cup is hard plastic.
Method Four: Pour a little of your liquid cocktail or beverage into the cup. This usually helps the jello shot to slide right out.
Method Five: Okay, if you really can't do it with any of the other methods above, I will give you a mini spoon for it.
