Homemade classic Salisbury recipe is a juicy, perfectly seasoned beef patties smothered in a creamy mushroom gravy sauce.
I remember when I was little, my mom used to make these all the time. I think it was because it was one of those economical meals from WWII. A time when they had to ration in order to save money.
Just like Grandma's Potato Pancakes! These were another staple in our household from the war era.

This recipe takes at least twice as long to cook to safe temperature. After 45 minutes the temp is only up to 120 degrees F. Please take this into consideration when making this recipe and allow for the extra cooking time.

You must take into consideration the type of pan used, the size of patties, and rack location when making this recipe. Thank you for bringing this up.

This was delicious. I seared the Pattie’s in a cast iron skillet and sautéd the onions at the same time. Then topped with the soup/gravy mixture that I watered down with about a half can of water. Baked in the cast iron skillet, uncovered for about 30 minutes. Served with steamed cauliflower and was a hit with the whole family.
