Cook Anything in an Electric Roaster Oven
I was excited when I was contacted by Nesco to choose one of their products to add to my Mother's Day and Father's Day Gift Guide.
Nesco has been around for quite a while since 1931 to be exact. It's a name you can trust when it comes to kitchen appliances.
I chose the 18 qt. Roaster Oven because we had an original vintage Nesco Roaster Oven with the stand in our kitchen when I was growing up. Actually, it was there for most of my adult life too. I wish I knew what happened to it.
Anyway, my mom used it all the time and I'm looking forward to making a bunch of different Nesco Roaster Oven recipes in it.
Plus, it's perfect for the RV since I don't have an oven. Last Thanksgiving, I bought a 10 lb. turkey and it didn't fit in my air fryer so I couldn't make it. 🙁
What Can You Cook in an Electric Roaster
While most people think that an electric roasting oven is only used for turkeys on Thanksgiving, that is farthest from the truth.
With a full-range temperature control ranging from 200°F to 450°F, you can cook pretty much anything you want in it.
From breakfast to main course recipes to desserts. Soups, stews, vegetables, side dishes, meats, turkeys...you name it and it can be done.
Be sure to stay tuned and bookmark the blog as we will be making some new recipes in the upcoming weeks.
Can you Bake a Pie in an Electric Roaster
Why yes, yes you can! My friend had an electric roaster oven and she made a mincemeat pie for Christmas. She also made brownies, cakes, and so much more.
If you're looking for a good fruit pie recipe, Nesco has one in addition to a ton more recipes.
About the Nesco Electric Roaster Oven
As you can tell so far, it is 18 qts. which is a pretty good size kitchen appliance. This is great for me because I only cook in big batches thanks to previously owning a snack bar. It's the only way I know how to cook, lol.
If you wanted to make a meal to feed a bunch of people...you can.
With a removable cookwell made from a porcelain enamel finish with integrated handles, it's easy to clean and can fit a 22 lb. turkey.
Also included is a baking rack with handles so you can easily lift out that 22 lb. turkey for fat-free roasting.
And because it's portable, it can go with you wherever you go. Putting out 1450 watts, creates a “Circle of Heat” to roast foods more evenly.
The rounded lid helps to keep food moist with a self-basting feature.
The possibilities are endless. You can roast, bake, steam, slow cook, cook, etc.
Where to Purchase
You can purchase the Nesco Electric Roaster Oven as well as many other kitchen appliances on the Nesco website, Amazon, and Walmart. It's available in red, black, white, and stainless.

Nesco has indeed been around for a long time. I was lucky enough to get one of the last ones with the extra buffet service accessory and extra rack. It's a pity Nesco doesn't make those anymore. I also have the 4-quart Nesco which is perfect for making meatloaf. The smallest Nesco now made is the 6-quart.
It's interesting that eBay is full Nesco vertical roasters. In my opinion, they were an experiment that did not work. Nesco used to have an 18-quart with a stainless steel cookwell. Maybe they will realize their folly and make the 18-quart stainless again. I know I would be happy.
