How Do You Thicken A Milkshake Without Ice Cream
There are several ways to thicken a milkshake without ice cream and we are using all the methods.
- Pudding - With just a couple of tablespoons of Jello pudding mix, the milkshake will thicken and give you the flavor as well.
- Ice Cubes - Ice cubes help to thicken any frozen beverage including milkshakes.
- Heavy Cream - Heavy cream used instead of whole milk, gives the milkshake the creaminess you normally get from the ice cream As you blend the ingredients together, the heavy cream whips up and helps to thicken the shake.
How to Make the Perfect Milkshake without Ice Cream
If you are using a Ninja Blender, you can throw your Oreo double stuff cookies in whole. However, some blenders are not strong enough to chop them up finely so I recommend placing your chocolate sandwich cookies in a plastic Ziploc bag and using a rolling pin to crush them. Or place them in a food processor if you have one.
Richmond from World of Blenders can help you with the different types of blenders.
Place the ice cubes, cookies and cream Oreo Pudding mix, crushed, whole or chunks of oreo cookies, and heavy cream or milk into the blender.
Hit the frozen beverage on the Ninja Blender and let it blend. Blend until smooth.
Depending on the amount of ice used, you may need to add a little bit more heavy cream or whole milk if it's too thick.
Drizzle chocolate syrup inside the glass (or fish bowl in my case) and pour.
Top with whipped cream, more chocolate syrup, crumbled Oreos and enjoy!
This is a simple recipe with a handful of ingredients and chocolate flavor for chocolate lovers and a great way to stay cool on a hot day.
You might not want to share this fun dessert with too many neighbors and friends because they will think you are the new neighborhood soda fountains and expect delivery service, lol.
No Ice Cream Shake Variations
If you are omitting the ice cream in this Easy Oreo Milkshake Recipe Without Ice Cream because you are lactose intolerant, then by all means substitute almond milk or non-dairy milk. I have not tried it, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. It will still have that great Oreo flavor.
Flavor Variations
- Strawberry Milkshake - Substitute fresh strawberries and strawberry pudding in place of the Oreos and cookies and cream pudding.
- Peanut Butter Milkshake - Sub 2 TBS Peanut butter and crushed nuts.
I have seen other recipes that do not include the pudding mixture and use vanilla extract and sugar instead. If you can't find the Oreo pudding mix for our milkshake recipes, then by all means substitute.
