Plot out your your meals as tent poles, then fill in Fastpasses and other activities. Here are the best Animal Kingdom meals throughout your day.
Animal Kingdom Meals to Plan Throughout Your Day
Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafes is the first and best place for breakfast. This is straight past Discovery Island in the back of the park on the way to Everest This is a good counter service restaurant to grab a quick bite on your way to one of the biggest E-ticket attractions. As an alternative, you could also go to Tusker House which is a Buffet and a character dining restaurant. This is great because you can book it at 8:00, a full hour before the park opens.
Getting in early is a really great plan, but if you are more of a coffee and pastry sort of person, you may want to stop either at Creature Comforts (Starbucks) on Discovery Island, or Kusafiri Coffee Shop in Africa. If you go to Kusafiri It’s a good opportunity to head over to the Kilimanjaro Safari, before the line gets too long.
For Lunch, you will definitely want a reservation somewhere so you can relax for a while and take a break from the crowds. The best restaurant in Animal Kingdom is Tiffins and it’s a really great tribute to the Animal Kingdom park. If Tiffins is on the pricey side, Nomad Lounge next door is a pleasant alternative with a smaller and less expensive menu. Also Yak and Yeti Restaurant in Asia is an excellent choice on a more moderate budget.
The best counter service around is Flame Tree Barbecue, which has plenty of seating and hides in plain sight on the east side of Discovery Island. Even though lunch time is the hardest time to find available seating, Flame Tree will have open tables despite being one of the most popular counter service options.
Should you plan to be on the east side of Animal Kingdom at the lunch hour, You can enjoy the carefully displayed expositional storytelling at Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland USA.
Animal Kingdom Meals – Dinner
Pandora is a gorgeous place to visit at night and dinner time is the best time to experience Satu’li Canteen. Hopefully you have a Fastpass to use on Flight of Passage, but even if you don’t the Avatar themed land is worth exploring when it is lit up during the evening. There is also plenty to discover and interact with.
Just above Pandora is Nomad Lounge, which I highly recommend if you did not stop there for lunch. They do not have a full restaurant menu but there are very tasty starters and other lounge food.
Yak and Yeti in Asia is as good a choice for Dinner as it is for lunch. It really just depends on the order in which you prefer to explore Animal Kingdom. If you start with Pandora in the morning, then Yak and Yeti, on the other end of the park is a nice idea for dinner. Don’t forget your reservations.
