What is Paczki
If you aren't familiar with Paczki then you most likely aren't Polish. The Polish normally celebrate it on Fat Thursday, but other cultures also celebrate it on Fat Tuesday.
However, growing up in Buffalo, NY all my life, the Polish community in Buffalo has the largest Fat Thursday event outside of Poland, which is run in cooperation with the monthly Polish Happy Hour Buffalo event.
Paczki is a Polish Donut sometimes filled with jelly or cream. Some stores, like Dillons, Publix, Wegmans, and Sam's Club sell Paczki the weekend before Fat Tuesday.
They are a very rich, sweet yeast dough consisting of eggs, butter and milk. They can be covered with glaze, sugar, or powdered sugar.
While the Baked Double Chocolate Chip Donuts does not contain yeast or butter, they do contain milk and eggs and are just as good and not as fattening.
Why Fat Tuesday
Fat Tuesday is the day before Lent (Ash Wednesday) when you empty the pantry and fill up on all the foods that you want to give up for Lent. Normally, people will give up things like meat, candy, chocolate, sweets, etc.
And while normally New Orleans has Mardi Gras on Shrove Tuesday, this year it is postponed thanks to COVID. But you can celebrate at home with our Baked Chocolate Chip Donuts and enjoy with family.
