CARAMEL CREAMS® TURTLE ICE CREAM PIE RECIPE
Yay, It's National Pi Day! Ok, so maybe it's technically not "Pie" day but in reality who needs a special day to celebrate Pie anyway? I know I don't.
Anywho, we are here sharing a pie that I love to make for my family, Caramel Creams® Turtle Ice Cream Pie recipe. I bet you're wondering why I call it Caramel Creams® (with an s on the end) instead of Caramel Cream, aren't you?
The reason being is because it's made with Goetze's Caramel Creams® candy. You know, the company that also makes Cow Tales candy (my favorite candy ever!)
Did you know that Goetze's Candy Company was started in 1895 but Goetze’s Caramel Creams®“Bulls-Eyes” were developed in 1918! That's the year my dad was born so that means two great things happened that year.
Not only are they available in vanilla caramel today, but also strawberry, chocolate, apple and black licorice. Yum!
Caramel Creams Pecan Turtle Ice Cream Pie Ingredients
- Chocolate Crumb Cookie Crust (Pre-made or make your own)
- 16 oz. Heavy Whipping Cream
- 14 oz. can Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 20 Original Vanilla Caramel Creams® unwrapped
- 10 Chocolate Caramel Creams unwrapped
- Container Cool Whip
- 1 Cup chopped Walnuts
- ½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp. butter
How to make Ice Cream Pie with Oreo Crust
Melt 15 Original Caramel Creams with ½ tsp. of butter in double broiler. I don't have one so I use a glass pyrex bowl that fits in my pot perfectly.
Fill pot with enough water so the bowl floats. Or you can melt them in a glass bowl in the microwave if you prefer.
Let caramel cool a bit before dumping into ice cream mixture. Spread Caramel into chocolate crumb cookie crust evenly and top with ½ cup chopped walnuts.
Place in fridge to firm up for about 15 minutes.
Melt 5 Chocolate Caramel Creams® in double broiler or microwave if you prefer with ⅛ teaspoon of butter.
Pour Heavy Whipping cream into cold mixer bowl. Having the bowl chilled helps to make the heavy cream whip easier. Mix till stiff peaks form.
Once whip cream is done, gently fold in sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips.
Let cool for a bit and then pour melted chocolate Caramel Creams and chocolate chips into mixture and swirl through.
Cover and place in freezer for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Top with Cool Whip.
Top with remaining ½ cup of chopped walnuts and chocolate chips.
Melt remaining 5 Original Vanilla Caramel Creams with ⅛ teaspoon of butter and drizzle over the top once cooled.
Melt remaining 5 Chocolate Caramel Creams with ⅛ teaspoon of butter and let cool a little bit before you drizzle over the top.
I placed the pie back in the freezer until we were ready to eat it, however, it's ready to eat as soon as you finish decorating it.
Run knife under hot water to cut easily and share with family and friends and Enjoy!
