Awesome Summer Treats at WDW
I absolutely love the summertime! The long, sunny days, swimming until you’re exhausted and outdoor cookouts all bring back awesome memories.
Summer foods like ice cream, fresh fruit and barbecue staples are all high on my favorites list. In fact, these summertime treats might taste even better while on vacation at Walt Disney World!
Whether you’re looking for a refreshing cool treat or a savory snack, you won’t be disappointed with our current favorite summer treats at Disney!
Ice Cream Cones
Earlier this year, WDW debuted new ice cream cones based on disney movies.
First up, at Storybook Treats in the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, we have the Lost Princess Cone. This is a Tangled inspired frozen treat that offers lemon soft-serve ice cream in a purple cone.
It is topped off with edible purple flowers that make the swirled yellow soft-serve look like Rapunzel’s flower decorated braid!
Head on over to Tomorrowland to try the Adventure is Out There Cone that is a nod to the movie Up!. Mango soft-serve fills a blue cone and features a white chocolate “cloud”, on the side of the soft-serve, that holds colored chocolate candy balls, which mimic the famous Up! balloons.
Funnel Cake Topped with Strawberries and Whipped Cream
Ahh funnel cakes! This treat usually only comes around during a summer carnival but you can find it year round at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom.
These plate size treats are made to order and topped with sweet, summer strawberries and delicious whipped cream.
Foot-long Hot Dog
What’s summertime food without a hot dog? Dockside Diner, in Hollywood Studios, has a foot-long all-beef hotdog that you can top with chili-cheese!
This is big enough to share and it also comes with chips.
Night Blossom
If you’re in need of a refreshing drink, try the Night Blossom at Pongu Pongu in the Animal Kingdom. This colorful and delicious drink is inspired by the movie Avatar.
Purple and green layers of apple and pear limeade are topped off with passion fruit boba balls. Don’t miss out on this frozen drink while you’re in Pandora!
Shaved Ice
In Epcot, stop by the Kabuki Cafe for some Japanese shaved ice. Choose from a variety of flavors including melon and blue raspberry.
These are so good and not as messy as traditional slushies. Adults can get in on the fun too with a Sake Mist. This alcoholic shaved ice comes in three flavors.
Jumbo Pretzel
More carnival snacks! Sommerfest, in the Germany Pavilion, in Epcot has hand-twisted pretzels.
These pretzels are enormous when compared to the beloved Mickey shaped pretzels. Don’t forget your side of cheese!
Dole Whip Swirl Float
You can’t forget this classic disney pineapple soft-serve that is swimming in sweet, Dole pineapple juice. You can also choose from vanilla Dole Whip or get the best of both worlds and go with a swirl of both!
Stop by Aloha Isle in Adventureland of the Magic Kingdom to get yours.
Pulled Pork Street Tacos
In the summer the food trucks come out in droves! The Smiling Crocodile on Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom has some tasty street tacos that make me think of late night snacks from a trendy food truck.
You get two pulled pork tacos on corn tortillas. Top them off with cotija cheese, cilantro, pickled onion and the incredible house-made sauce.
Roasted Corn on the Cob
Mmmm I can smell this delicious snack now! This is one of my favorite summer snacks. My family never has a cookout without roasted or grilled corn on the cob.
Be on the lookout for a small stand near the entrance of Animal Kingdom if you want this on the go snack!
All this talk of yummy summer treats makes me want to head to Disney World right now! I’m sure that this summer, my list will be changing once I try new treats.
That’s the great thing about vacationing at WDW, no matter how many times you go, there is always something new to do and something new to eat!
Please let me know what your favorite summer treats are at disney. Are they cool treats to help beat the heat or light snacks to fill your belly and help you get back to the rides? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
